Accent wall colors – There are several places that you can look for inspiration when choosing an accent wall color. The key is to look at the colors that are already being used. Chances are that the color accent you choose will ultimately appear somewhere in your room. Use the following tips to help determine what colors are and to make your final choice.
Write down the four most commonly used colors in your room. Sort them by order from most used to least used. Choose between one of the two less used colors, such as the accent wall colors. Choose a color in a painting or fabric that you used in decorating your room. Ideally, you want it to be a color that is against the most commonly used colors in your room.
Choose a metallic paint as an accent. Many are available in gleaming gold, silver, copper, brass, and chrome or platinum. Painting an entire wall could be too much, but the paint of metallic colored stripes on one of the walls would be enough to serve as a color accent. If you already have something metallic in your room, paint the stripes of the same metallic color. Or you can add new picture frames or plant containers in the same metal you choose for wall stripes. Choose a lighter accent wall colors to make a room look larger. If you want to make a room look smaller and more intimate, paint one of the walls a dark accent color.
